The Mauritius–Africa Scholarship Scheme 2026 is a fully funded scholarship program offered by the Government of Mauritius through its Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The scholarship is designed to support outstanding African students, including Nigerians, to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degrees at recognized public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Mauritius.

This prestigious scholarship aims to strengthen educational cooperation between Mauritius and African countries while building the next generation of skilled professionals, researchers, and leaders. Mauritius has emerged as a top study destination in Africa due to its high-quality education system, internationally recognized universities, multicultural environment, and strong economic growth.

Through this scheme, selected Nigerian students will receive financial support covering tuition, living expenses, and other academic-related costs, enabling them to focus fully on their studies without financial burden.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

General Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of Nigeria

  • Must apply for a full-time, on-campus degree program at a public Mauritian university

  • Must be medically fit and provide a health certificate from a recognized government hospital

Undergraduate Applicants

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must not be older than 26 years by January 1, 2027

  • Must have strong WAEC results

  • Must possess A-Level qualifications or equivalent

Master’s and PhD Applicants

  • Must not be older than 40 years by January 1, 2027

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2:1)

  • Must meet admission requirements of the chosen university

Admission Requirement

Applicants must complete one of the following before submitting their scholarship application:

  • Obtain a conditional or full admission offer from a Mauritian public university

OR

  • Provide proof that they have applied and paid the required application fee

This ensures that scholarship recipients can immediately begin their academic program.

Applicants must submit the completed scholarship application form along with supporting documents, which may include:

  • Completed and signed scholarship application form

  • Admission letter or proof of application to a Mauritian university

  • Academic certificates and transcripts

  • WAEC or equivalent results (for undergraduate applicants)

  • Degree certificate (for postgraduate applicants)

  • Birth certificate or national ID

  • International passport

  • Medical certificate from a government hospital

  • Passport photographs

Incomplete applications may be rejected.
